If you’re one of my clients or you’ve been hanging around me for a while, you’ll know that systems, processes and boundaries are some of the things i talk about most often.
I even tried to be an OBM when I first started my business, because helping others organize their businesses and delight their clients was so satisfying to me.
Turns out I didn’t yet have boundaries strong enough to be an OBM (scope creep was SO real) and niching down into just one piece of the puzzle – websites – that also touches SO MANY of the other pieces of the puzzle makes both my systems/processes/strategy heart happy AND allows me to run my business the way I want, instead of letting it run me.
That said, even though I’ve built up strong processes and have rock solid boundaries in place, sometimes I still see a need to break with the norm to accommodate a client if they’re otherwise a dream to work with.
Plus, with my recent experience with moving companies (who all had THE SAME process that just wasn’t working for what I needed) I thought it was time to talk about what to do when your process just isn’t a fit for a project, but you want to explore taking on the project anyway.
